2024 A Year In Review

Jan 15, 2025 | Customers, Features, Release

As 2025 gets off to a start, we’re excited to reflect on the milestones, enhancements, and successes that have made 2024 a remarkable year for TMS. The UK is still very much in precarious position, even with a change of government. This year, therefore, has been a testament to our commitment to innovation and delivering exceptional value to our customers.

Product Innovations

This year, we launched several groundbreaking products and features that really set Contract Costing apart:

  • Web Timesheets: Launched in Q3, our Web Timesheets app is now live running on multiple sites and allows employees to log time, travel, allowances and expenses on any device, at anytime, anywhere in the world. Employees log time spent against jobs each day then submit their timesheet through an authorisation workflow. Timesheets are then analysed to automatically determine all overtime and rates before being posted to payroll. Supports all major UK ‘National Agreements’ for controlling pay rates and overtime calculations out of the box, whilst also allowing fully bespoke agreements to be defined.
  • Invoice Authorisations: Released in Q3, authorisations have been extended to include Purchase Invoices, Subcontractor Invoices and Subcontractor Certificates. A workflow approach allows multiple levels of authorisation to be defined, where specific individuals, teams or Job roles can be used to provide authorisation before proceeding to the next level. Authorisations are fully supported in our Web App module, allowing invoices to be authorised on the go, without needing access to the core product.
  • Web Apps Refresh: Updated in Q4, the performance and user interface of our web apps have been significantly improved, making them faster and simpler to use than ever. Lists now use dynamic paging to create the appearance of a fully loaded list instead of only displaying one page of data at a time; filter options have been moved to toolbars to free up space for more important information; and detail screens have been redesigned to present data in relevant groups. This solution revolutionises the way that people work from site and away from the office, giving users the ability to raise orders, receive/return goods, on/off hire plant, manage stock and authorise orders/invoices.
  • Web Document Management: Completed in Q4, Document Management has been completely rewritten as a Microsoft 365 Integrated App, replacing the installed client. This allows Document Management to work with hosted solutions without the need for the core product to be installed locally. It is also compatible with both New Outlook and the web versions of Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced Conditional Formatting: Released in Q2, Contract Costing now has some of the most advanced conditional formatting available on list views as standard. This allows comprehensive visual reporting and enquiries.
  • Reporting Server: Introduced in Q1, this enhancement allows Crystal Reports to be generated on the server, therefore reducing the strain on user’s PC’s, increasing performance and removing the dependency on complex and problematic printer drivers.

These innovations have helped us stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving market.

Growth

In 2024 we’ve achieved significant growth across various dimensions:
